Compare the Platforms Behind Your Business and Digital Products

Evidence-led comparisons written by the people who implement these systems, with the assumptions, the sources and the situations where the alternative is the better choice. Every page states our commercial interest and names the person who checked it.

One methodology, every page

How We Compare Things

The rules below apply to every comparison in this hub. They exist because most comparison content on the web is written by whoever sells one of the options, and doesn't say so.

  • Equivalent things, compared

We state which edition, plan or deployment of each product is being compared. Comparing a licensed edition against an open-source one without saying so is the most common way these pages mislead.

  • Sources beside volatile facts

Licensing, editions and product capabilities change. Every comparison lists its primary sources with the date we checked them, and carries a change log.

  • No invented cost figures

We compare cost structure and link to each vendor’s own pricing. We do not publish total-cost numbers assembled from competitor marketing pages.

  • Where the alternative wins

Every comparison names the situations where the other option is the better choice. If we can't argue both sides of a comparison, we don't publish it.

  • Our interest, stated

We implement Odoo and we build custom software, so we have a commercial interest in most of these decisions. Each page says so at the point where it matters.

  • A reviewer, not a byline

Each comparison names the person who checked it and the date. When a fact changes, the page changes and the change log records it.

ERP and build decisions

Each card names the decision, who it is for, and when it was last checked.

What is not here

Why This List Is Short

We publish a comparison when we can argue both sides from experience and keep its facts current. That rules out most pairings, and it is why this hub grows slowly.

  • Comparisons against systems we have never implemented are sourced from vendor documentation and say so. Where we would be guessing about the alternative, we do not publish at all.

  • 3 comparisons are written but not published: Odoo vs SAP Business One, Odoo vs NetSuite and Odoo vs Dynamics 365 Business Central. Each is waiting on its vendor facts being checked against primary documentation and on a reviewer who can name the cases where that product wins. They are deliberately not linked from here until both are done.

  • Need a comparison that is not on this list? Tell us which two options you are weighing and we will do it against your requirements, which is more useful than a general page.

Compare Against Your Requirements, Not a Feature List

Send us the two options you are weighing and the workflows that decide it. You get a written comparison against your actual requirements, including the honest answer when neither is us.
