Web Applications Built to Handle Real Business Logic

Portals, dashboards, internal tools and SaaS products: applications with users, permissions, data and workflows, built on Next.js and Node.js and connected to the systems behind them. If you need a marketing site instead, that's Website Development.

What we build

Web Applications We Build

  • Customer and member portals

Accounts, self-service, documents, orders, subscriptions, on top of Odoo or a custom backend. Freiburger Bund's member portal serves physicians in four languages.

  • Dashboards and reporting

Operational and management views over live data (profitability, workload, order status) with role-based access.

  • Internal tools

The admin and operations screens that replace spreadsheets: approvals, planning, catalog and content management.

  • SaaS products

Multi-tenant applications with subscriptions and billing. WaveContact's digital business card platform runs on Odoo with Stripe.

  • Supplier and partner portals

Distributor onboarding, quotation self-service, certificates and order tracking, as at Hi-Tech Alloys and LittleQ.

Technical expertise

The Web Application Stack

Next.js (App Router) + React
Server and client rendering where each fits, streaming, caching, and a component model that scales with the team.
TypeScript end to end
Shared types between API and UI. Whole classes of bugs never reach production.
Authentication and authorization
Sessions or tokens, SSO/OAuth providers, role- and record-level permissions, often delegated to Odoo when it's the system of record.
Data modelling on PostgreSQL
Schemas designed for the questions the business asks, with migrations and indexes treated as code.
GraphQL / REST APIs
Contracts shaped for the screens. The same API serves a mobile app later.
PayloadCMS
Editorial and structured content inside the application without a separate CMS platform.
Real-time and search
Socket.IO + Redis for presence and messaging. Meilisearch for instant search over large datasets.
Internationalisation
next-intl with automated string extraction. German, English, French and Arabic in production.
Testing and performance
Playwright end-to-end tests, Artillery load tests, Core Web Vitals budgets.

Many businesses need both, and they can share a design system, but they're different builds with different economics.

Delivery

From Requirements to a Running Application

  1. Discovery

Users and roles, the workflows the application must carry, the data it owns and the systems it must talk to.

  2. Architecture and API contract

Data model, permissions, API shapes and integration points, written before the first screen.

  3. Design system and foundations

Components, auth, environments and CI, so every feature after is built on rails.

  4. Iterative build

Usable slices each sprint on staging with real data. Feedback from the people who will use it.

  5. Test and harden

End-to-end tests, load testing, security review, accessibility pass.

  6. Launch and evolve

Production with monitoring. Continuous delivery under an ongoing engagement.

Ask a question

What's the difference between a website and a web application, and which do we need?

A website explains and persuades people who have not logged in. A web application does work for people who have: transactions, data, workflows, permissions. So if people need accounts and the system changes data, you need a web application, and if you need to be found and to publish content, you need a website.

Website development

Can you build a customer portal that integrates with our existing Odoo or CRM system?

Yes: that is most of our portal work. Odoo stays the system of record. The portal reads and writes through an API layer we build, with Odoo's own permissions respected.

Headless Odoo

Do you build MVP-stage products or only fully-scoped systems?

Both. An MVP is built on the same foundations so it grows into the product rather than being rewritten: that is the point of the architecture-first approach.

Which frameworks do you use?

Next.js and React with TypeScript on the frontend. Node.js (and Python/Odoo where it's the backend) with PostgreSQL behind GraphQL or REST APIs.

Can the application support multiple languages and real-time features?

Yes. Freiburger Bund runs in German, English, French and Arabic with real-time messaging and presence on Socket.IO and Redis.

Do you also build the mobile app?

Yes, on the same API: the web application and the mobile app share one backend contract.
