When you need it

When Do You Need Odoo Consulting?

Consulting is the right service when the next decision is expensive to get wrong. These are the situations we're usually called into.

  • Planning an implementation

Define modules, workflows, company structure, architecture, integrations and a realistic roadmap before anyone is hired to build.

  • Existing Odoo problems

Identify technical debt, performance issues, customization risks and why the system is harder to use than it should be.

  • Migration planning

Assess the upgrade path, custom-module compatibility, data volume and downtime tolerance before committing to a version.

  • Community vs Enterprise

An honest comparison for your workflows, hosting, budget and roadmap: we implement both, so we have no edition to sell.

  • Architecture

Design APIs, integrations, headless frontends, mobile applications and infrastructure so Odoo is the engine, not the constraint.

How a consulting engagement runs

From Current State to a Roadmap You Can Act On

  1. Current state

What you run today: systems, versions, custom code, integrations, data, the people who depend on each of them, and the problems that triggered the conversation.

  2. Business requirements

Workshops with process owners to separate what the business needs from what the current software forced. Requirements are written down and prioritised.

  3. Technical assessment

Hands-on review of the Odoo instance where one exists: modules, database, performance, deployment, security, upgrade risk.

  4. Options

Two or three viable paths (edition, architecture, build vs OCA vs custom, phasing) each with effort, risk and what it rules out later.

  5. Recommendation

One recommended path with the reasoning, in language a founder and an architect can both act on.

  6. Roadmap

Phased plan with scope per phase, dependencies, an effort estimate and the decisions still needed from you. Yours to execute with us or with anyone else.

What We Tell Clients Before They Spend

  1. 01

The edition question is usually answered by three or four specific features, not by a general comparison. Name them first.

  2. 02

A technical assessment of an existing instance pays for itself the moment it finds a customization that won't survive the next upgrade.

  3. 03

Requirements written by the people who run the process are half the length and twice as accurate as the ones written about them.

  4. 04

Phase one should be the smallest release the business can run on. Everything else is a roadmap item, not a launch blocker.

Ask a question

What does an Odoo consultant do?

An Odoo consultant maps business requirements to Odoo, recommends how each should be met (standard, configured, OCA module or custom) and designs the architecture, edition, hosting and integration approach.

At Heliconia, consultants are techno-functional: they have implemented and built the systems they advise on, so recommendations come with effort and risk attached.

When should I hire an Odoo consultant?

Before an implementation, before a migration, or when an existing Odoo system is causing problems you can't diagnose, in each case before money is committed to building.

If you already know exactly what you need and only lack capacity, you need developers, not consulting.

Hire Odoo developers

Can you audit an existing Odoo implementation?

Yes. The technical assessment reviews version, custom modules, database, integrations, performance, deployment, security and upgrade risk, and delivers a ranked findings report.

It works for systems built by other partners. That is the most common case.

Can you help choose between Odoo Community and Enterprise?

Yes, and independently: we implement both editions and contribute to OCA, so the recommendation follows your workflows, hosting, budget and roadmap rather than a licence.

Community vs Enterprise compared

Can you estimate an Odoo project?

Yes. Estimates come out of the roadmap: scope per phase, effort per phase and the assumptions behind each, so the number is defensible rather than a round figure.

Can you review custom Odoo modules?

Yes. Module review covers separation from core, upgrade compatibility, performance, security rules, test coverage and whether an OCA module already does the job.

Odoo customization

Can you plan an Odoo migration without doing it?

Yes. A migration strategy (version path, custom-module compatibility, data approach, downtime plan and risk register) is a standalone deliverable you can execute with any team.
