Direct answer

What Heliconia Provides for Retailers and Online Sellers

Heliconia implements Odoo as the operational backbone for retail and eCommerce (products, stock, POS, orders, purchasing, payments and accounting) and builds the customer-facing layer around it: Odoo eCommerce where it fits, or a headless Next.js storefront, a Flutter or React Native app, or a Shopify store synchronised with Odoo where it doesn't.

Retail breaks when channels disagree: the shop sells what the website already sold, the app shows a price the store changed this morning, the accountant reconciles three systems. The answer is one system of record for products, inventory, orders and customers, and channels that read from and write to it: a store POS, a website, an app, a marketplace. That is the architecture behind every retail project below.

Retail challenges

What Retail Systems Have to Get Right

  • Omnichannel inventory

Stock synchronised across stores, warehouses and online channels, one truth for availability.

  • Product complexity

Variants, attributes, pricelists, serialised or RFID-tagged items, daily metal rates, packaging sizes: product rules that are yours.

  • Order management

Online and in-store orders flowing into fulfilment, invoicing and accounting without re-keying.

  • Payments

Gateways, terminals, cash on delivery, recurring saving-scheme payments: integrated into the journey, posted to accounting.

  • Customer experience

Web and mobile experiences on the Odoo backend: catalog, accounts, orders, schemes, notifications.

  • Scalability

Systems that evolve as products, channels, countries and customers grow, including the next Odoo version.

Implementation approach

How a Retail Platform Comes Together

  1. Channel and product discovery

Stores, sites, apps, marketplaces. Product rules, pricing, taxes and fiscal requirements per entity.

  2. System-of-record design

Odoo apps and edition, custom modules, the storefront/app decision (Odoo eCommerce, headless, Shopify) and the integration map.

  3. Backend build

Products, inventory, POS, pricing, payments and accounting configured and extended. Migrated from the old system.

  4. Experience build

Storefront and app on the API layer, with search, payments and notifications, tested with real catalog and orders.

  5. Launch by channel

Stores, then online, then app, or all at once, with staff training and the previous system as fallback.

  6. Grow

New stores, countries, channels and Odoo versions under a support engagement.

Questions

Odoo for Retail and eCommerce, Answered

Atul Makwana

CEO & Co-Founder, Heliconia Solutions

Not answered here? Ask Atul directly, the person who reviewed this page, not a sales queue. Odoo 16 Functional Certification.

Ask a question

Is Odoo good for retail?

Yes. Odoo covers point of sale, inventory across stores and warehouses, purchasing, pricing, eCommerce, loyalty and accounting in one system. Our retail clients run it for multi-store jewellery, multi-island duty-free retail, fashion retail and D2C brands: extended with custom modules where their business rules demand it.

Can Odoo manage eCommerce and physical stores together?

Yes. Odoo POS and Odoo eCommerce share products, stock, customers and accounting. Jo Ann’s runs four island entities with fiscal POS and a per-island eCommerce site on one Odoo 16 Enterprise platform.

Jo Ann's case study

Can Odoo integrate with payment gateways?

Yes. We have integrated Razorpay, Cashfree and Stripe for online and in-app payments, POS terminals in store, cash on delivery and recurring saving-scheme payments, all posted to Odoo accounting.

Odoo integration services

Can Odoo support headless commerce?

Yes: it's our preferred architecture when the storefront or app needs to be more than Odoo’s website builder allows. Odoo stays the commerce backend. Next.js, Flutter or React Native front ends talk to it over GraphQL or REST. LittleQ, Aria Jewellers and Ramdev Kangan run this way.

Headless Odoo

We sell on Shopify. Does Odoo still make sense?

Yes, as the ERP behind Shopify. Spicy Organic keeps its store on Shopify while Odoo runs purchasing, manufacturing, inventory, wholesale orders and accounting, with products, customers, orders, inventory and payment data synchronised between the two.

Spicy Organic case study

Can we migrate a customised retail Odoo to a newer version?

Yes. Zealous moved a heavily customised Odoo 16 Enterprise retail system to Odoo 18 with all critical customisations preserved, and gained POS, barcode, label and WhatsApp improvements in the same engagement.
