Project at a glance
A client-facing portal where engineers run API 2000 fire-relief and breathing calculations through wizard forms, with the company’s engineering maths executed in the Odoo backend, a live input-audit tool, folder and batch organisation of tank designs, stage-based approvals, watermarked PDF reports with annexures and QR-code verification, plus sign-up, invitations and support ticketing.

The challenge
Complex process-safety calculations needed a reliable online portal: structured input via wizards, backend computation, guaranteed parity between inputs and database records, hierarchical organisation of projects, folders and batches, and advanced PDF reporting with QR verification.

The solution
Built the Tank Design Portal on Odoo with QWeb templates and Python backend logic implementing the company-provided API 2000 calculations (environmental factor, heat absorbed, relief rate). A real-time UI input audit tool. Folder and batch structures with stage-based lifecycle and bulk approvals. Soft delete. PDF reports and annexures with dynamic watermarks and QR codes. Centralised chemical, department and unit-conversion models. Scheduled actions. And a client portal with sign-up requests, member invitations and support tickets.
How we built it
- Designed and built the Kaypear Tank Design Portal using Odoo’s QWeb templating engine.
- Integrated company-provided API 2000 standard calculation logic (Environmental Factor, Heat Absorbed, Relief Rate) into the Python backend.
- Implemented a real-time UI Input Audit Tool within the wizard forms to trace and validate engineering inputs against database records.
- Developed a hierarchical Folder and Batch structure to systematically organize client projects and tank designs.
- Introduced stage-based lifecycle management and bulk approval workflows for efficient processing of design records.
- Implemented soft delete (archiving) functionality to ensure safe data management and recovery.
- Designed custom PDF reports and calculation annexures with dynamic watermarks for status indication and IP protection.
- Integrated QR code generation capabilities for instant, secure access to design documentation.
- Built a client portal with user sign-up requests, member invitations and a dedicated support ticketing system.
- Developed centralized models for managing Chemical properties, Departments, and precise Unit Conversions.
- Integrated custom automated scheduled actions (cron jobs) with manual execution capabilities for real-time processing.
